The Presidential Oath* of Office

January 20, 2017. United States Capitol, Washington, D.C.

Chief Justice Roberts: Please raise your right hand and repeat after me. I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear…

President-elect Donald J. Trump: I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear…

Roberts: That I will faithfully execute…

Trump: That I will faithfully execute…

Roberts: …the office of President of the United States.

Trump: …the office of President of the United States.

Roberts: And will to the best of my ability…

Trump: And will to the best of my ability…

Roberts: …preserve, protect, and defend…

Trump: …preserve, protect, and defend…

Roberts: …the Constitution of the United States.

Trump: …the Constitution of the United States.*

Roberts: So help me God.

Trump: So help me God.

*Except Article III, because there will be multiple times when judges will not rule in my favor. And except Article II, so I can threaten to formally adjourn Congress to push my own nominees through without Congressional vetting. Also, not Article I, because I’m in blatant violation of Section 9, Paragraph 8. And iffy on the 1st Amendment, because all news that disagrees with me is fake and the “enemy of the people.” Definitely not the 10th Amendment, because I think Presidential authority is total, and I can wrest control from the States if I want. And not the 22nd Amendment, because I’d like to be President for life.
